Privacy Policy
Last updated: May 13, 2026
This Privacy Policy explains how TasteForTwo ("we," "us," or "our") collects, uses, and shares information when you use the TasteForTwo mobile application (the "App") and related services (collectively, the "Service").
By using the Service, you agree to the practices described in this Policy. If you do not agree, please do not use the Service.
1. Who We Are
You can contact us about this Policy at support@tastefor2.com.
2. Information We Collect
We collect information you provide directly, information generated by your use of the Service, and limited technical information from your device.
2.1 Information You Provide
- Account information — your email address and password (stored as a salted hash; we never see your plaintext password).
- Profile information — display name, optional profile photo, and any other fields you complete during onboarding (such as bio or preferences).
- Questionnaire and preference data — your responses to the taste questionnaire and any reactions (likes, dislikes) you submit to restaurants, friends, or other recommendations.
- User-generated content — reviews, ratings, and any other content you post within the App.
- Communications — messages you send to us (e.g., support requests).
2.2 Information Collected Automatically
- Precise location — if you grant permission, we collect your device's location so we can recommend nearby restaurants and people. You can revoke this permission at any time in iOS Settings.
- Device and usage information — device model, operating system version, app version, language, time-zone, and basic diagnostic events (e.g., screens viewed, features used). We use this to operate and improve the Service.
- Log data — IP address, request timestamps, and standard server logs, retained for security and debugging.
2.3 Information from Third Parties
We do not currently purchase or receive personal information about you from data brokers or marketing partners. If this ever changes, we will update this Policy and notify you where required by law.
3. How We Use Your Information
We use the information we collect to:
- Create and operate your account, and authenticate you.
- Generate personalized restaurant and people recommendations.
- Show your profile, reviews, and other content you choose to share.
- Maintain and improve the Service, including debugging, analytics, and feature development.
- Communicate with you about account activity, support requests, security alerts, and changes to the Service.
- Detect, prevent, and respond to fraud, abuse, security incidents, and violations of our Terms.
- Comply with legal obligations and enforce our agreements.
We do not use your data for cross-app behavioral advertising and we do not engage in "tracking" as defined by Apple's App Tracking Transparency framework. Our app does not display third-party advertising.
4. Legal Bases (EEA / UK Users)
If you are in the European Economic Area or the United Kingdom, we rely on the following legal bases under the GDPR / UK GDPR:
- Performance of a contract — to provide the Service you signed up for.
- Legitimate interests — to improve and secure the Service, prevent fraud, and communicate operational notices.
- Consent — for optional features that require it (e.g., precise location). You can withdraw consent at any time.
- Legal obligation — where we must process information to comply with applicable law.
5. How We Share Information
We share personal information only as described below. We do not sell your personal information, and we do not share it with third parties for their own marketing.
- With other users. Your profile, display name, profile photo, and any reviews or content you post are visible to other users of the Service as part of its core functionality.
- Service providers. We use vetted vendors to host our infrastructure, deliver email, and operate analytics (e.g., cloud hosting providers such as Amazon Web Services). These vendors process information only on our instructions and under written data-protection terms.
- Legal and safety. We may disclose information when we believe in good faith that it is necessary to: comply with a valid legal request; enforce our Terms; investigate fraud, abuse, or security issues; or protect the rights, safety, or property of TasteForTwo, our users, or the public.
- Business transfers. If we are involved in a merger, acquisition, financing, or sale of assets, your information may be transferred as part of that transaction. We will notify you of any such transfer.
6. Data Retention
We keep your account information for as long as your account is active. When you delete your account (see Section 9), we delete or anonymize your personal information within 30 days, except where we are required to retain it for legal, accounting, or fraud-prevention purposes. Server logs are retained for a limited period (typically up to 90 days) for security and operational reasons.
7. Security
We use industry-standard administrative, technical, and physical safeguards to protect your information, including TLS for data in transit, password hashing, encrypted storage of authentication tokens in the iOS Keychain, and access controls on our backend. No method of transmission or storage is perfectly secure; we cannot guarantee absolute security.
8. Children
The Service is not directed to children under 13 (or under 16 in the EEA / UK, where applicable). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us personal information, please contact us at support@tastefor2.com and we will delete it.
9. Your Rights and Choices
Depending on where you live, you may have the following rights:
- Access and portability — receive a copy of the personal information we hold about you.
- Correction — ask us to correct inaccurate information.
- Deletion — ask us to delete your information. You can delete your account directly in the App at Profile → Delete Account, which initiates deletion of your associated data.
- Objection / restriction — object to or ask us to restrict certain processing.
- Withdraw consent — where processing is based on consent (e.g., precise location), you may withdraw it at any time.
- Lodge a complaint — EEA / UK residents may lodge a complaint with their local data-protection authority.
To exercise any right not available in-app, email support@tastefor2.com. We will respond within the time required by applicable law. We may need to verify your identity before acting on a request.
California residents: Under the California Consumer Privacy Act ("CCPA") you have the rights described above. We do not "sell" or "share" personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising as those terms are defined under the CCPA.
10. International Transfers
We are based in the United States and our service providers may be located in other countries. When we transfer personal information out of the EEA, UK, or other regions with data-export restrictions, we rely on appropriate safeguards such as the Standard Contractual Clauses.
11. Third-Party Services and Links
The Service may include links to or content from third-party services (for example, restaurant data sources or map tiles). Those services have their own privacy practices, which we do not control. Please review their policies.
12. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Policy from time to time. If we make material changes, we will notify you in-app or by email at least 7 days before the changes take effect, except where a shorter notice period is necessary to comply with law. The "Last updated" date at the top reflects the latest version.
